Touch The Faces Of Your Gods Daily.

Touch the faces of your gods daily.

Distracted are those who allow themselves to be. Pulled before blinking screens of varying virtue, taken from their path those who are drawn to flashing lights and empty shells.

Don’t fall. Don’t allow it to turn you into a stray.

Put yourself to work; your shoulder to the wheel, your axe to the grindstone… put your energy where it matters most to you. Realise that at the end of each day, there is no one to greet you but yourself. Make you proud.

For you are going to die. There is nothing you can do. It is the most certain aspect of your life.

So die surrounded by your art, by a world of your own choosing. Let your passion cradle you into whatever lays beyond, not fear, not ‘Your Suburb Has Talent’ or the latest mundane act at work.

Lennon was right when he said that ‘life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.’

The other Lenin had an opinion too, the Vladimir flavoured one, when he said, “It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed.”

So, if true, how do you spend your rations? Do you squander most of your hard fought portion? Do you  waste much of your liberty in working for money in jobs you hate. Stare at television screens, which offer nothing but distraction or have you thought long and hard on many a project, much to the detriment of the project itself?

We were born to swim in waters of a certain shade, but choose not to.  We prioritise that which means nothing and gives nothing to us.

Don’t waste your liberties, the only times that are allowed you from the tyranny of responsibility, use them wisely. What greater responsibility is there than the one to yourself, the one that honours who you are, your dreams and needs? Fools walk into the glow of a detrimental light. Media, in all its insidious forms cannot offer you any greater light than your own. Stand by that light. You will spoon it at night, if only in your mind, your ideas, your art, your music, your love. It will embrace you as much as you embrace it.

It’s okay to feel that you are better than your current circumstance might suggest. Most of us live to do something which is in complete opposition to how we actually fill our days. Do you yearn to write? To draw? To make music, carve wood, act, paint, dance, make movies, do stand up, make love all day, explore life, the world, each other???

Honour that impulse. Embrace that feeling, because that feeling isn’t going to go away. It will sit in your chest, in your thoughts and beg to be released. If not it will fester and rot and turn into something else, something poisonous.

“A lie told often enough becomes the truth.” Lenin said that too.

We create our own truth every day. We lie to our needs, convince ourselves that a life half lived is enough and we believe it. We live in the shadows of the person we wish we were and we don’t need to.

Take five minutes to sketch your morning. Make carvings with your kids. Sing while cooking the evening meal. Show off your passions to the ones you love. Do Reiki for your parents. Read your writing to your friends. Act for and with your kids. Dance for your lover.

Connect with what you love, what strengthens your soul every day. There is always time. There is never a reason not to. There is always time.

You don’t have to change your life, leave your job to reconnect with your passion. It is all around you if you know where to look, if you allow it passage. You can be bold in those moments we take for granted, in those small slices of liberty we are allowed we can make universes which will feed us, make us happier, stronger, bigger, brighter…

Touch the faces of your gods daily.

They will return in kind.
